WRITING 101 ~ DAY SIX
Where do you write? Do you prefer blogging on your laptop in a coffee shop? Are you productive in a quiet room, door closed, away from civilisation? Today, describe the space where you write. Or, if you don’t have a dedicated place, what is your ideal setting? Consider these questions to shape your post:
What are your writing habits?
What equipment or supplies do you use to write?
What do you need and want in a physical space?
NIRVANA
by John Yeo
I have two special places where I can sit, and allow my mind to engender the required inspiration, and muster the free-flowing thought patterns that
allow me to produce a piece, or a number of pieces of writing. I am blessed with a high degree of dedication to a project and once I have a basic idea of what I want to write, I am fused with a plan of action and the writing flows.
At present I do all of my writing on my iPad, I have become very proficient at using this little miracle. I love the portability and the multifarious instant aspects of on-line reference and the help and guidance available for writers. I then use my iMac to finish the rough drafts and to publish the finished results.
I tend to do most of my writing in the evening and I have a little corner of the sofa in our living room where I usually sit and simply write. In spite of some interruptions and the background noise of the television, my concentration never wavers. I usually read the rough draft of my work to my wife, Margaret, and take careful note of her responses.
My other favourite spot is in our conservatory again I use my iPad and just allow the creative juices to flow.
All I need is the time and a somewhat un-tired mind to allow me to work.
