DOUBLE TROUBLE

by John Yeo

My brother and I were one,
We lived, breathed and thought alike.
We grew up together, without a care
Pushing each other to compete.

Together we were never alone
We struggled to keep up the fight.
Aware as brothers we were always there
To win the struggle without defeat.

At school we pushed each other along,
Keeping up the fight for our right
To live and protect each other, aware
Together we were strong, totally complete.

Those halcyon days are now long gone
We grew up and went our separate ways.
In the face of trouble we still see double
Life and fate eventually burst our bubble.
